Ward & Burke Construction Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
Application 1 is for a licence to abstract water from the Thames Group at Havant Thicket, National Grid References (NGRs) SU 70718 06884, SU 70858 07171, SU 71278 08161, SU 71598 08298 and SU 71804 08723 to transfer it to NGRs SU 70717 06830, SU 70893 07182, SU 71275 08165, SU 71598 08320 and SU 71768 08722 Hermitage Stream without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

13.5 cubic metres an hour

324 cubic metres a day

13,360 cubic metres a year

between 1 February and 31 July inclusive in each year.
Application 2 is to abstract water from the Lambeth Group at Havant Thicket at NGRs SU 71121 07336, SU 71203 07792, SU 71007 07538 and SU 71002 07533 to transfer it to NGRs SU 71089 07294, SU 71005 07516 and SU 71178 07792 Riders Lane Stream without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

144 cubic metres an hour

864 cubic metres a day

181,440 cubic metres a year

between 1 February and 31 November inclusive in each year.
Abstraction is for the purpose of dewatering for construction and will take place in multiple phases over a period of 2 years. An environmental permit for the discharge of the abstracted water has also been applied for (application reference EPR/GP3423ME/A001).
