Waldersey Farms Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a new full licence to abstract water from within the Middle Level from the Twenty Foot River, River Nene (old course), Sixteen Foot Drain, Middle Level Main Drain, Popham’s Eau and from drains within the Middle Level, March West & White Fen Internal Drainage Board (IDB), March Sixth Internal Drainage District, Whittlesey & District IDB, Needham & Laddus IDB, Upwell IDB, March East IDB and Euximoor IDB at various points, reaches and within three areas near March, Cambridgeshire.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 150 cubic metres an hour

  • 3,600 cubic metres a day

  • 57,389 cubic metres a year

  • between 1 April and 31 October inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for spray irrigation. All water abstracted under this licence will be discharged from the Star Pit reservoir first.
