Details

For variety listing, the maintainer can be in a country granted equivalence. You can find a list of countries with species the UK will accept as meeting equivalence for variety maintenance.

If a country has not been granted equivalence for maintenance of varieties, a UK maintainer will be required.

The Variety Lists are lists of varieties of agricultural crop and vegetable which have been approved for certification and marketing in Great Britain and NI.

To comply with the Seeds (National Lists of Varieties) 2001 and the Seeds (Variety Lists) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2020, a plant variety on the Variety List must be maintained by at least one person who can maintain the variety in line with accepted practices.

Fill in this form to apply to maintain a plant variety. There are guidance notes at the end of the form.
