Published 1 October 2026
Applies to England
Have your free NHS vaccines to help you stay well this winter
If you are experiencing homelessness and sleeping outside or staying in a homeless hostel or a night shelter, you are at higher risk from infections like flu
You have a right to treatment on the NHS
Everyone in the UK can register with a GP. No ID, proof of address or immigration status needed.
Help protect yourself and others
Vaccines are free and have a good safety record.
They help to stop serious illness and some causes of cancer.
A free flu vaccine is available
The best time to have this is by the end of November, before flu typically starts to spread widely in December. But you can still have a flu vaccine later.
Other free vaccines
Your GP practice can also offer:
- the Pneumonia vaccine (pneumococcal)
- missed childhood vaccines
- other vaccines depending on your health and situation
Have your vaccines at a pharmacy, GP practice or from an outreach team who offer vaccinations
Not sure about having your vaccines?
Worried about injections or jabs?
Ask for information, and share any concerns you have with your doctor, health worker or your outreach team to help you decide.
You can take someone with you when you go for a vaccination.
UKHSA and Groundswell
The UK Health Security Agency looks after public health. They worked with the NHS and Groundswell Homeless health charity to make this poster. We all want to help improve the health of people who are homeless, sleeping outside or using shelters and hostels.
