Details

This document sets out the proposed structure, illustrative content, and strategic direction of the long-term rail strategy (LTRS). It has been developed to align with the passage of the Railways Bill through the House of Lords.

The LTRS will provide the overarching direction for the railways set by the Secretary of State for Transport and delivered by Great British Railways (GBR).

The final strategy will be developed through further analysis and stakeholder engagement ahead of expected publication in autumn 2027.
