This work was commissioned by the OME, on behalf of the SSRB, from the University of Cambridge to inform the Major Review of the Judicial Salary Structure. This research was conducted to understand reasons why seemingly eligible and qualified candidates do not apply for judicial posts. This research comprised a series of focussed and confidential interviews with individuals who were identified by members of the senior judiciary and others as being potentially eligible for a judicial appointment.
