United Utilities Water Limited: application made to abstract water

United Utilities Water Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising sandstone at an area between National Grid References SJ 29186 92660, SJ 29217 92671, SJ 29228 92645 and SJ 29194 92637.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 414 cubic metres an hour
- 9,936 cubic metres a day
- 3,626,640 cubic metres a year.
The water will be abstracted to prepare the area for excavation and construction. All water will be discharged to the sewer network.
