United Utilites Water Limited: application made to abstract water

United Utilites Water Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 27/75/009/011 which authorises the abstraction of water from surface water in Cumberland at National Grid References NY 30 19 and NY 32 14.

The variation applied for is to renew a time limited condition on the same terms to increase abstraction from 4,470 cubic metres per day to 90,000 cubic metres per day at National Grid Reference NY 30 19. There is no proposed change to the total annual quantity of water authorised to be abstracted on the licence.

The application has been made alongside applications to renew 8 transfer abstraction licences to abstract from surface water in Cumberland.
