Details

This document explains the provisions of the UK-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement in relation to customs and rules of origin.

Provisions around customs include:

  • fair and equal treatment
  • rapid and efficient clearance
  • fast decisions from customs on advance rulings
  • empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
  • no need for customs brokers
  • simplifying customs processes

Provisions around rules of origin include:

  • modern and flexible rules of origin
  • supporting UK supply chains
  • rules that safeguard and safeguard food producers

The agreement is expected to enter into force on 31 May. Once this has happened, businesses will be able to trade under its terms.
