Initial assessment statement from the UK National Contact Point (NCP) on a complaint submitted by Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain.
This publication reports the assessment of a complaint by Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain (ADHRB), a civil society organisation based in the United States that lobbies for democratic reform in Bahrain, against UK companies involved in organising the Bahrain Grand Prix. The complaint alleged that the companies’ actions did not meet voluntary standards included in the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
The OECD Guidelines have an associated complaints process, in which the first stage is for the National Contact Point (NCP) of the country concerned to decide whether a complaint should be taken further. The UK NCP has decided that some of the issues are worth further examination, and as a first step, will offer the parties mediation.
