This summary identifies some of the natural hazards, such as flooding, extreme weather and pandemics, that could affect transport and explains how they can disrupt services and damage transport infrastructure.

It also provides advice to help transport organisations become more resilient to these hazards, including:

  • the resilience cycle
  • how to anticipate and identify risks
  • prevention and mitigation of these risks

The concepts explained in this summary are used throughout the Transport hazard summaries series.
