The percentage of educational building stock in relation to the total building stock in the UK.
2. Release
There are approximately 50 million square metres of state-maintained schools in England. This covers 22,616 schools. The 50 million square metres does not include private schools.
There are around 33,000 schools, including private schools, in the UK.
This information is for England only and you will need to approach Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for information in relation to the rest of the UK.
Data on schools is in the public domain and is in a searchable database called edubase published by DfE.
