This project was established to explore ways of improving the short range prediction of heavy convective precipitation.
This project was established to explore ways of improving the short range prediction (up to 3 hours ahead) of heavy convective precipitation, initially in the Environment Agency’s Thames Region. The aims of the Prqject were two-fold:
- to validate an object-orientated conceptual model of convection devised to improve the prediction of heavy convective precipitation
- to provide objective guidance on the most appropriate choice of radar-based precipitation forecast in a range of weather situations.
