On the agenda this week: A £5.45 billion two-year ring-fenced public health budget for local authorities has been announced by the Department of Health, covering 2013-14 and 2014-15; and in a new boost to health research, £120 million is available through the National Institute for Health Research to support up to 12 projects which will benefit patients.
