The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract (take) water from a drain at Wallasea Island at National Grid Reference (NGR) TQ 95180 94670.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 35 cubic metres an hour
- 235 cubic metres a day
- 35,485 cubic metres a year
- All year.
The water will be used for nature conservation.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has also applied to the Environment Agency for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of Borrowdyke at NGR TQ 95191 94680.
By Culvert with drop board sluice water will be impounded to fill a coastal lagoon for nature conservation.
