Grand challenges are mission focussed, ambitious initiatives used to tackle complex, multi-faceted issues by driving momentum in targeted innovation, promoting collaboration and aligning innovation efforts. The NDA’s Grand Challenges for technical innovation were designed to provide clear articulation of desired outcomes, accelerate the development of key technologies, as well as encourage novel, creative approaches to addressing them.

The challenges included a set of ambitious aims for the half-way point in 2025 and this report provides an update on the learning and benefits realised to date.
