Using offender data from 2008 to 2011 (inclusive) from Offender Assessment System (OASys) assessments, probation and reoffending, and tax and benefits systems, the study extends previous analysis on this topic using more recent data, a more thorough matching process, and looking at different combinations of requirements.

It also looks at effects over different follow-up periods, to quantify impact over time.
