The Harnham Water Meadows Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.
The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Hampshire Avon catchment.
The application is for a licence to abstract (take) water from the River Nadder at National Grid References SU 13525 29481 and SU 13453 29624, to transfer it without intervening use to inland waters comprising the Harnham Water Meadows Managed Wetland System.
Abstraction will take place each year for the following periods and purposes:
- From December to March inclusive for the purpose of Flood Irrigation, including water meadows, warping and pest control
- From January to December inclusive for the purpose of Nature Conservation
