Details of the application

The Coal Authority has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from South Nottinghamshire Coal Field at Pinxton, Nottinghamshire at National Grid References SK 47468 55058 and SK 47494 55063 to transfer it to the River Erewash at National Grid Reference SK 47454 54870 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 108 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,592 cubic metres a day
  • 946,080 cubic metres a year.

Abstraction will take place all year round.

The application is made for the transfer of water for the purpose of mine water level control and pollution remediation.
