This research was carried out when OPSS was within the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
This report was commissioned by the Office for Product Safety and Standards from the Health and Safety Executive and concerns the development and review of tests for assessing the safety of 18650 batteries (a battery size) for vaping. These cells were sourced from a range of suppliers including dedicated retailers and a variety of sellers on online marketplaces and were subject to cell cycling, pulsed discharge, overcharge and short circuit tests.
