Termination of funding agreements

Guidance for training providers on the termination of funding agreements.

Applies to England

Documents

Details

This guidance is for training providers affected when Department for Education (DfE) funding agreements and contracts, or provider agreements for apprenticeships, are terminated. On this page, these are all referred to as ‘funding agreements’.

The guidance applies only to post-19 further education and apprenticeships provision funded by DfE, including through:

  • apprenticeships
  • non-devolved adult skills funding
  • 16 to 19 study programme
  • advanced learner loans

It does not apply to skills bootcamp funding. If your funding agreements include an allocation for such funding and they are terminated, contact the skills bootcamp team at the Department for Work and Pensions, who will provide guidance and support.

Funding agreements may be terminated by either party. Circumstances may arise that require DfE to terminate some or all of its agreements with your organisation. In turn, if your organisation no longer wishes to deliver DfE-funded provision, you must notify DfE in writing, giving the notice period set out in your funding agreements.

The guidance for training providers has been updated to explain what training providers can expect from the Department for Education (DfE) and what they need to do if their funding agreements with the Education and Skills Funding Agency are terminated.
