Tarmac Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising sand and gravels at Girton Quarry at National Grid References (NGRs) SK 81922 69534, SK 83073 69627, SK 82979 68453, SK 81681 68883 and to transfer it to:

  • The Weecar Dyke via a reach between NGRs SK 82560 67960 to SK 42280 69070,

  • The Old Trent Oxbox via a reach between NGRs SK 81858 68752 to SK 81881 69685,

  • The Northern Lake at National Grid Reference SK 28712 69562 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 374 cubic metres an hour

  • 8,976 cubic metres a day

  • 3,276,240 cubic metres a year

  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.
