Information request
Please could you provide me with the following:
Please supply me with all correspondence to and from the SSAC relating to the Social Security (Claims and Payments) Amendment Regulations 2008 SI 2008/441, including committee papers and briefings when the regulations were discussed.
Response
Having undertaken a search of the Committee’s registered paper files and its electronic records from 2008, I confirm that the Committee holds the following information which I have provided alongside this letter:
1. A letter from the Department for Work and Pensions to the Social Security Advisory Committee (SSAC), dated 18 January 2008, outlining the proposed changes and a copy of the draft Statutory Instrument which accompanied that letter
2. A copy of the SSAC secretariat’s advice note to Committee members.
The Committee’s summary of regulations scrutinised in 2008 confirms that the Committee did not require these regulations to be presented at a Committee meeting, and that it agreed they could proceed without taking further evidence from officials.
