FOI 8110

We have a received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following:

“Is there any type approval for measuring equipment used when fitted within any vehicle? If so which vehicles are so approved?

When fitted within a vehicle is there any type approval that considered the effects of the air movements of passing traffic such as large commercial vehicles rocking the vehicle to which the equipment was fitted? If so how was the rocking of the vehicle measured or factored into the measurements that were approved?

Given the known effects of how smaller vehicles rock on their suspension when passed by larger vehicles due to the movement of air, especially so with large commercial trucks. What considerations within any type approval to prevent these known effects upon any measuring equipment fitted within the vehicle?”

We released the following information on 20 November 2007.
