We have a received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following:
“In the trials of the Gatso type 24 which led to its Type Approval by the Home Office, can you advise if the device was tested using it from within a vehicle.
If so , then can you let me have details of the results and recommendations, if any, relating to this testing.
If it was not tested for use from within a vehicle, then would I be correct in saying that the device cannot be guaranteed to provide accurate measurements in this setting?
In the trials of the same device, can you confirm if the device was tested for use on a bend in the road, or corner.
If so then what results were obtained and what recommendations were given as to its use in these circumstances.
If no testing was made of the device on a bend in the road then is there any guarantee that such use would provide accurate results.”
