The aim of the report is to review and recommend an approach for setting soil screening values for use in the Environment Agency’s ecological risk assessment framework.

The Environment Agency is committed to developing a tiered ecological risk assessment (ERA) framework for use primarily in Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, but also to support other regimes such as the Habitats Directive.
