This qualitative research explores how small and medium-sized employers recruit and hire unskilled and semi-skilled workers.
We commissioned the research to:
- help inform the support Jobcentre Plus provides to customers who are seeking work
- further develop the way we work with employers
The findings are helping to improve the service we offer small and medium-sized employers. This includes raising awareness of:
- different recruitment processes
- the additional support Jobcentre Plus can offer businesses in recruiting unemployed people
The findings also suggest simple improvements we can make in helping to prepare unemployed people for work. We are currently exploring these.
