The following list of charitable organisations and counsellors has been prepared by the British Embassy Beirut for the convenience of British Nationals who may require these services and assistance in Lebanon. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) does not accept any liability to any person or company for any financial loss or damage arising from the use of this information or from any failure to give information.

Young Women Christian Association beirut@lebanonywca.org Hotline: 00961 1 360789 (24/7) 1- Ain Mraisseh, Beirut. 2- Sed El Bouchrieh YWCA aim to develop the leadership and collective power of women and girls in order to achieve social justice, peace, human dignity, freedom and sustainable environment for all. They receive women and girls from all ages, provides accommodation, legal advice and psycho-social support for free, has technical college, hostel, many activities and cultural programs like exhibitions, conferences and workshops.
Mariam & Martha Community cmm@maryamandmartha.org Hotline: 00961 3 553121 Ajaltoun, 00961 9 236961/2 A social organisation which provides specialized centres with lodging, rehabilitation and support for women facing difficult family and social situations, as well as moral and financial help. They receive women and children (boys and girls under the age of10 years) and provide accommodation and psychosocial support for free.

They receive women and children (boys and girls from 2 and half years to 7 years), provide accommodation, legal advice and psycho-social support for free.

Realize full equality between men and women in all the civil legislation which governs social relations at all levels and in different areas. Guarantee women’s rights as human rights in the light of the international conventions for human rights and the Lebanese Constitution. Ensure the access of women to reliable, secure, and sustainable levels of livelihood.
HIMAYA resilience@himaya.org Hotline: 00961 3 414 964 St Rita Bldg, Street 58, 1st Floor, Fanar It is a specialized NGO in the child protection sector, working to prevent violence against children and offer the support needed for abused children on a psychosocial and legal level; eventually allowing them to be reintegrated as productive and active members of society. It is also a member of the ISS (International Social Service) responding to cross border child abuse cases involving a Lebanese and a foreigner parent.

AJEM info@ajemlb.org 00961 4 410648 / 00961 4 520562 Aramta center 5th floor Antelias AJEM works for the defence of Human Rights and especially detainees’ rights in Lebanon. The association supports prisoners and their families during and after their detention to help them through this difficult time.
Dar Al Amal info@dar-alamal.org 00961 1 483 508 / 00961 1 241164 Samir Ghazal Bldg, Ground Floor, Sin el Fil, Beirut DAA works in partnership with the public and private sectors, both nationally and internationally, for the development of the prevention and protection of vulnerable children and the empowerment of weaken young girls and women. DAA has an agreement with the Ministry of Social Affairs and collaborate with the Ministry of Interior, the Interior Forces of Security, and other Ministries, and with several Municipalities. They run common projects in partnership with international and local organizations.

It promotes community awareness and education to break a cycle of violence and abuse; and it provides an environment of encouragement, compassion, and support for all who come in contact with it.
EMBRACE info@embracelebanon.org Hotline: 1564 / 00961 1 346226   Embrace LifeLine is the first National Emotional Support and Suicide Prevention Helpline in Lebanon. The specialized telephone service includes a network of highly trained operators who provide suicide risk assessment and emotional support, as well as serve as a source of referrals for community resources and treatment programs for people in times of crisis. There are currently 60 trained volunteer emotional crisis and suicide prevention helpline operators who come from various backgrounds, ready to take calls. All the volunteers have gone through intensive workshops, trained in active listening skills, suicide risk assessment and crisis intervention.
International Medical Corps inquiry@internationalmedicalcorps.org Hotline: 00961 81 311 748   They work to ensure access to quality health services for Syrian refugees, vulnerable Lebanese and people at risk. They do this by supporting a network of about 50 primary healthcare clinics and dispensaries across the country. These clinics focus on prevention and health maintenance, including routine physical examinations, wellness exams for children, malnutrition screening, immunizations, referrals, care and follow-up treatment for those with non-communicable diseases; specialized health services for people with disabilities and antenatal and postnatal care. They procure essential medications based on the Ministry of Public Health’s drug lists and work closely with supported clinics to dispense and monitor their use.
IDRAAC idraac@idraac.org Hotline: 00961 3730475 Ashrafieh, St George Hospital Street NGO dedicated to mental health. Its mission is to raise public awareness and advocate for mental health as a basic human right while providing care for all age groups (children, adolescents, adults and the elderly).
ARCENCIEL aec@arcenciel.org 00961 1 495561 Jisr el Bacha Center, John Kennedy St, Sin el fil, Beirut. Arcenciel supports Lebanon’s marginalized people, regardless of religion, political affiliation or nationality. Their main goal is to work with and support people living with disabilities or other physical and psychological difficulties.
Skoun Addiction Center info@skoun.org 00961 1 845512 Rafik Hariri University Hospital They offer support counselling to people who have attended other treatment programs and are looking for continued care, helping you deal with day-to-day issues as they arise. This is especially useful considering the fact that economic stress and political instability may affect one’s sobriety.
