SDC Builders Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the West Melbury Marly Chalk within the area outlined by the following National Grid References: TL 46176 55136, TL 46298 55195, TL 46342 55100, TL 46228 55040.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 52 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,250 cubic metres a day
  • 112,500 cubic metres a year
  • Between January 2021 and April 2021 inclusive.

The water will be used for dewatering excavations to enable construction work. The abstraction lies within the Cam and Ely Ouse Chalk in the Cam and Ely Ouse abstraction licensing strategy. All water abstracted will be returned to the adjacent brook via a surface water sewer at National Grid Reference TL 46306 55097.
