These reports outline findings from the Safer Roads Fund evaluation.

The phase 1 report concentrates on the early stages of the fund, including the fund’s announcement and application stage. Interviews were conducted with local authorities, particularly those with schemes funded in 2017.

The phase 2 report focuses on local authorities’ understanding and implementation of the safe system to encourage culture change in road safety.

The full research goals are to:

  • better understand how the Safer Roads Fund is being administered
  • discover how the Safer Roads Fund is encouraging local authorities to adopt safe systems principles

The research was completed by Kantar Public on behalf of the Department for Transport.
