River Thames Scheme: public consultation (September 2016)

Updated 24 February 2017

The River Thames Scheme ran the second set of 2 full day discussion group workshops on 13 and 19 September 2016, covering Berkshire (channel section 1) and Surrey (channel sections 2 and 3), respectively. These workshops were part of our ongoing community and stakeholder engagement activities, focusing on the communities and interest groups within the River Thames Scheme area.

The purpose of the discussion group is to ensure that the new channel creates benefits for people, livelihoods and nature. During the process people shared their knowledge and expertise, suggesting ideas and exploring options to provide input on the design of the proposed flood channel, decide what it will look like and how it can be used. Views from all participants, representing a wide range of interest groups, were recorded and will be taken into consideration.

The session included presentations from the River Thames Scheme project managers.

Activities during the workshop were interactive and supported by materials such as maps, posters and feedback forms.
