River Darent at Horton Kirby: decision about factual change

Published 19 October 2016

This notice was withdrawn on

The appeal period has ended and the proposed changes to the main river map have been made.

After a period of consultation, the Environment Agency has decided to change the main river map for River Darent, Horton Kirby, Kent.

The Environment Agency is making this change as a ‘determination’ under section 193C(1) of the Water Resources Act 1991. A determination is a formal decision to change the main river map.

The determination is that we shall correct the main river map between national grid reference (NGR) TQ 56198 69184 and NGR TQ 56339 69874. The main river is to be the watercourse shown as an ‘addition’ on the main river consultation map rather than the watercourse shown as a ‘deletion’.

This change means the map will show the correct location of the watercourse. It does not change who is responsible for carrying out flood risk management work on the watercourse.

How to view the changes

You can see the original proposals on the main river consultation map. The green line (‘addition’) on the map is the proposed new line to show the correct position of the watercourse. The red line (‘deletion’) is the incorrect line, which will be deleted.

Or you can see the main river consultation map at:

Orchard House
Endeavour Park
London Road
Addington
West Malling
Kent
ME19 5SH

The change will appear as a proposal on the main river maps until 6 weeks after the date of this notice. This is to allow for appeals to the decision. The main river map will be changed to reflect the determination on 30 November 2016.
