This is a report on research undertaken by the Behavioural Insights Team on behalf of the Government Equalities Office, with two main aims:

  1. To understand how parents make decisions about the sharing of childcare responsibilities when returning to work.
  2. To design and test interventions that could motivate fathers to take a more active caring role.
