The Department for Education invites school partnerships to become Return to Teaching pilot schools. The pilot will provide grant funding for schools to support former teachers returning from career breaks to teach priority subjects.

The pilot is open to school partnerships in the West Midlands, the South East and South London, including:

  • School Direct lead schools
  • multi-academy trusts (MATs)
  • teaching school alliances (TSAs)
  • school-centred initial teacher training providers (SCITTs)

Successful pilot schools will be invited to take part in a start-up meeting with other pilot schools in London on 4 May.

Go to Get Into Teaching if you’re a former teacher looking to return to teaching.
