Government’s response to the UK Synthetic Biology Roadmap Coordination Group’s recommendations for the future development of synthetic biology in the UK. Synthetic biology aims to design, engineer or replicate biological systems, for example biosynthetic insulin. This letter explains how the government is working to stimulate innovation, responsible commercial exploitation, economic growth and quality of life.
