Research and Innovation Organisations Infrastructure Fund (RIO IF) privacy notice

This notice sets out how we will process your personal data, and your rights relating to the RIO IF scheme. It is made under Articles 13 and/or 14 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

1. Your data

We will process the following personal data:

  • names of lead applicants
  • contact details of lead applicants

No special category data will be processed.

2. Purpose

The purpose(s) for which we are processing your personal data is:

  • to monitor the progress and operational delivery of the scheme
  • for evaluation of the scheme to understand its impact and to inform future government policy
  • for the prevention, investigation and detection of fraud

The legal basis for processing your personal data under Article 6 of the UK GDPR is:

1(b)Contract: It is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party – in this case a grant agreement with obligations on both parties to deliver their elements of the grant – the partner organisation to procure and install research infrastructure and DSIT to pay them for this when required.

1(e)Public task: Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the data controller. The public task is the delivery and evaluation of the Research and Innovation Organisations Infrastructure Fund.

4. Recipients

Your personal data will be shared by us with independent scientific experts as part of the Science Panel, as well as our monitoring and evaluation contractor.

As your personal data will be stored on our IT infrastructure it will also be shared with our data processors Microsoft and Amazon Web Services.

5. Retention

Your personal data will be kept by us for 2 years.

6. International Transfers

Your personal data will be processed in the UK.

Your personal data will not be processed in the European Economic Area (EEA), or by an international organisation. 

7. Your rights

You have the right to request information about how your personal data are processed, and to request a copy of that personal data.

You have the right to request that any inaccuracies in your personal data are rectified without delay.

You have the right to request that any incomplete personal data are completed, including by means of a supplementary statement.

You have the right to request that your personal data are erased if there is no longer a justification for them to be processed.

You have the right in certain circumstances (for example, where accuracy is contested) to request that the processing of your personal data is restricted.

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data where it is processed for direct marketing purposes.

If this privacy notice changes in any way, we will place an updated version on this page.
