Participants involved in the research explored the educational priorities and culture of schools visited in Shanghai through:

  • classroom observation
  • discussion with principals, leadership teams, teachers, students and trainee teachers

The research looks at:

  • teaching methodologies
  • curriculum and assessment strategies
  • aspects which have proved successful in securing high attainment levels in pupils
  • how these approaches can be used in schools in England
