The department received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) requesting the following:
‘Please provide us with all details of the procedure by which the Secretary of State for the Home Department deports failed asylum seekers to Iran, including information on:
1. The documentation which will accompany the deportee.
2. What information about the deportee is passed by the Secretary of State for the Home Department to the Iranian authorities both in the United Kingdom and Iran.
3. The process of handing over the deportee to the Iranian authorities and
4. Any other information that is relevant.’
