Relationship between reception baseline assessment and KS1 attainment

How pupils participating in an optional reception year assessment in 2015 performed in their KS1 assessments in 2018.

This document provides information on how pupils who participated in the 2015 optional reception baseline offered by the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) performed in their key stage 1 (KS1) teacher assessments in the summer of 2018.

This will be useful for people who want to understand more about the statistical relationship between these 2 assessments, including researchers, educators, and others with an interest in primary education.

The reception baseline assessment is a new national assessment for reception-year pupils in state-funded primary schools in England. We will use it to form the start of school level progress measures between reception and year 6.
