Reedness drainage channel repairs

Announcement of intention not to prepare an environmental statement (Regulation 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (Land Drainage Improvement Works) Regulations 1999 as amended by SI 2005/1399 and SI 2006/618.

The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to the flood defences on Reedness drainage channel in Reedness. This project will commence at Reedness drain outlet structure (Grid Ref X:479941 Y:423143) and extend 30m south of the existing Old Hill Cottages road bridge (Grid Ref X:479911 Y:423001). The proposed improvement works will involve the following:

  • stabilise the embankments utilising metal piles and put in a access track to allow for future maintenance

The Environment Agency considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them. The Environment Agency will undertake Water Vole translocation in advance of the works commencing on site. All the necessary consents have been applied for at Natural England and are available from the local Environment Agency office.

Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed improvement works should do so, in writing, within 28 days of the date of publication of this notice.
