This circular publicises the Home Secretary’s approval on the issue of reckonable service for police officers who transferred to SOCA on the 1 April 2006 and subsequently rejoin a Home Office force.

(i) Part (a) and (b) of the agreement will be effective from the 30 October 2008.

(ii) Where two or more police officers were in receipt of reduced replacement allowance on the basis that they cohabit, and one of the officers transferred to SOCA on 1 April 2006 and continues to receive such allowance under his/her SOCA terms and conditions, all the individuals concerned should continue to receive the allowance on the same basis as if they continued to be police officers. This change will take effect from the date the necessary amendments to the 2003 Police Regulations take effect.
