The Environment Agency consulted on this proposal for change between 13 July 2015 and 16 August 2015.

The Environment Agency proposes to change the existing main river map at Rawreth Brook, Rayleigh Essex.

It proposes these changes as a ‘determination’ under section 193C(1) of the Water Resources Act 1991. A determination is a formal decision to change the main river map.

The proposed determination is that we will correct the main river map between national grid reference (NGR) TQ79799 91950 and NGR TQ 79783 91863. The main river is to be the watercourse shown as an ‘addition’ on the main river consultation map rather than the watercourse shown as a ‘deletion’.

For each correction, the main river is to be the watercourse shown as an ‘addition’ on the main river consultation map rather than the watercourse shown as a ‘deletion’ which is shown incorrectly on our current main River Map between NGR TQ 79799 91950 and TQ 79657 91904 .

The change means that the map would show the correct location of the watercourse. It does not change who has power to carry out flood risk management work on the watercourse.

This section of watercourse is being altered as it no longer exists at the location shown on the current Main River record maps. A public sewer now takes the flow from the upstream section of open Main River watercourse along an alternative route before it discharges to a downstream section of open Main River Watercourse. Section 94 of the Water Industry Act 1991, gives the responsibility to the sewerage undertaker for future maintenance of the Public surface water sewer system following adoption.

1. How to view the proposed changes

You can see the proposals on the main river consultation map.

The green line (‘addition’) on the map is the proposed new line to show the correct position of the watercourse. The red line (‘deletion’) is the incorrect line, which would be deleted.
