R. G. Produce Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water during winter months (01 November to 31 March) from the Cut-off Channel at National Grid Reference (NGR) TL 66568 99592, College Road, Wereham, King’s Lynn, Norfolk.
The abstracted water would be stored in a lined reservoir (not yet constructed) located at NGR TL 66832 99807 within the Stoke Ferry Internal Drainage Board area.
Water stored in the reservoir would then be discharged back to the Cut-off Channel at the same location (NGR TL 66568 99592) and subsequently abstracted for spray irrigation between 01 April and 31 October from multiple reaches within the Southery and District Internal Drainage Board area.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
Purpose 1 – Winter abstraction to fill the reservoir (01 November to 31 March inclusive):
- 90 cubic metres per hour
- 2,160 cubic metres per day
- 100,000 cubic metres per year.
Purpose 2 – Summer abstraction for spray irrigation (supported by discharge from the reservoir) (01 April to 31 October inclusive):
- 90 cubic metres per hour
- 2,160 cubic metres per day
- 90,909 cubic metres per year.
