This prison service order (PSO) contains guidance for prisons when dealing with requests from prisoners to set up or take part in a prisoner representative association.

It covers:

  • considerations for maintaining good order or discipline
  • recognising prisoner representative associations
  • extending facilities and privileges to associations

This is a current PSO. It came into effect on 3 July 2002.
