This prison service order (PSO) contains guidance and best practice on managing the day-to-day transport needs of a prison. It covers:

  • different ways to meet the transport needs of the prison
  • principles for official travel
  • purchasing and replacing official vehicles
  • environmental considerations
  • maintenance
  • driver training
  • appropriate disposal of vehicles at the end of their life

This is a current PSO. It came into effect on 18 April 2000.
