1. National Statistics Status
National Statistics status means that our statistics meet the highest standards of trustworthiness, quality and public value, and it is our responsibility to maintain compliance with these standards.
The designation of the road traffic estimates as National Statistics was confirmed in February 2013 following a full assessment against the Code of Practice by the Office for Statistics Regulation.
2. Changes to these statistics
Since the latest review by the Office for Statistics Regulation, we have continued to comply with the Code of Practice for Statistics, and have made the following improvements:
- completed a review of the traffic estimates for Great Britain and implemented its recommendations—an overview document and details reports on the projects have been published
- added more value by including more contextual commentary in the road traffic estimates statistical releases
- innovated our dissemination methods by developing an interactive website for accessing road-level traffic estimates
