Post Office Capture financial redress data as of 19 December 2025

Updated 5 January 2026

The Capture Redress Scheme has been open for applications since 29 October 2025. The scheme is open to postmasters who experienced a financial shortfall as a result of using the Capture software.

Scheme progress

As of 19 December 2025, the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has received 110 complete applications.

A complete application means DBT has received sufficient information to progress the claim onto the next stage, which includes eligibility assessment. This includes undergoing ID checks, disclosure from Post Office Ltd and eligibility checks.

Of the 110 complete applications, there are:

  • 90 claims undergoing eligibility assessment
  • 20 claims that have been deemed eligible

On confirmation of eligibility, the claimant is entitled to a preliminary payment of £10,000. An independent panel then processes these claims before the claimant receives their full offer of financial redress.
