We received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following:
‘The numbers of police officers (serving and retired) who have voluntarily allowed their DNA profiles to be stored on the national database.

I would also like a separate total of Chief, Deputy Chief and Assistant Chief Constable (plus equivalent and higher ranks in the Metropolitan Police).’
