Occupational regulation in the EU and UK: prevalence and labour market impacts

Research on the prevalence of occupational regulation in the UK and EU, and an examination of labour market impacts in the UK.

This externally commissioned research examines:

  • the extent to which labour markets in the EU have occupations subject to at least some regulation, or restrictions on the ability to practice the occupation
  • the extent to which occupational regulation may present a barrier to the ability of EU professionals to work in the UK.

The research provides a breakdown of estimated proportions of the labour market affected for 27 EU member states.
