1. Request
Since the authority has been granted to switch licensing sectors from Door Supervision to Security Guarding at licence renewal, can you tell me how many Door Supervision licences have been converted to Security Guarding and for what date period you are providing this data?
I understand that this number could change in the future, as current licences approach expiry and more licence holders switch sectors.
2. Response
I confirm that the SIA holds the information that you have requested.
As of today (20 January 2022), there have been 144 renewal applications where the sector has been switched from Door Supervision to Security Guarding. The criteria applied was:
- Original licence sector: Door Supervision
- Licence sector on renewal application: Security Guarding
- Renewal application submitted after 1 October 2021 (date of top-up training implementation)
- Renewal application submitted before Door Supervision licence expiry date
As per the wording of the request, this count does not include licence holders who allow their door supervision licence to expire and submit a subsequent new application for a different sector.
